Disappointed in the BBC

Brits always conflate the two.

Pedophile is synonymous with child molester here…

Seems to be true in a lot of places. We should expect more from journalists. They are supposed to investigate, not just both sides, but ALL sides before reporting.

The BBC are a lapdog of the Tory gov’t so I honestly wouldn’t expect any unbiased reporting from them.

To tell the truth, I have a very low opinion of journalists.

Ironically, I have a higher opinion of child molesters than I do of journalists. (And that’s saying something!)

Reporters are cool, but journalists are scumbags. By their own admittance, they don’t report the news. They tell stories AKA they are obsessed with labeling “heroes” and “villains” to maintain a narrative.

Update:

Pixiv seems to have finally done something to address the way certain features have been misused, mostly those including the sharing of links to unlawful websites, as well as offers/requests for the material via off-site communications.

This is a tremendously welcome, but somber event. It should have never risen to this level of egregiousness, and as one of the Internet’s most prominent platforms for artistic freedom and expression, of which pornographic content certainly counts, the fact that they allowed things to become this bad, to the point where it almost felt like they were deliberately ignoring the contents of reports, or taking days to act, is extremely unfortunate. Let it serve as a reminder to not just lolicon/shotacon communities, but ALL communities, that content moderation and community management are key to retaining a safe environment for this type of material to be shared without risk.

This type of inaction has allowed certain groups to misrepresent the matter as placing loli/shota as a risk factor, when it’s not. Communities who actively moderate against this type of criminal behavior see very little, if any, criminal activity on this scale, because their prompt moderation/rules enforcement action tells would-be criminals that they are not tolerated there, and are therefore unsafe.

This is the status quo, and has been for years. Inaction of this type adds fuel to the delusion that these materials are in and of themselves problematic, when that’s far from the case.
