So I recently remembered a video about guro, that I saw about a year. It was an explanation of what it was and an explanation of its history. The narrator said something about how guro is okay because most of the fictive participants are consenting.
So basically he is saying that fictive assisted suicide and necrophilia or reg suicide is morally alright but, he wont extend that luxury to homicide, or reg necrophilia.
It’s so ridiculous how people arbitrarily hold on to the idea that certain fiction is bad, yet something nearly identical is alright. It’s like how the game “hatred” was called immoral because the player was tasked with the mission to kill as many people as they could, many of them being random civilians. Yet the critics have no objection if you massacre NPCs in GTA.
Most people believe that certain fictional depictions are somehow evil, they just move the line back farther and farther. It seems very intuitive, and it’s hard to get past one’s own bais.
I ended up finding the video
I realize that the part about it not being okay if It was non ““consensual”” was only implied, but i think it still stands.
I also don’t know where the idea that guro it’s mostly between consenting parties arises. From my “investigation” that would appear not to be true. I didn’t get too deep since guro isn’t something that appeals to me, it’s too hard core for my taste.
Yeah… Only difference between Hatred and GTA is the amount of edge involved lol.
If we want to hold people accountable to imaginary actions, I and most gamers have kill counts that have to be at least in the 4 digit range…
Consent in fiction is dumb. There’s an entire (and popular AFAIK) genre of porn based around it, but people will try to argue this imaginary situation is immoral.
People only give stuff a pass when it’s something they like and ignore the cognitive dissonance…
Hatred is a parody of black metal imagery, and themes.

Ever since I was a little kid playing flash games I wondered, what exactly my kill count would be. Probably in the hundreds of thousands, since I’ve played the total war series for a while. I played plague inc a few times when it was on flash but i never got far.

Luckily, pixel lives don’t matter In my country.
Yes, I find guro inexplicably fascinating, probably because it gives me a flood of different feelings like sadness and happiness, gross and curiosity, anger and pitty, etc. I believe that it may be the experience of all these feelings at the same time that makes us “attracted” to it. So it works almost like a drug. I also believe that sexual arousal about this material is a second effect that is not present in many people (like me) but is a potentiator for many others. Also is kinda easy to say why some people become sexually aroused by it. It’s just statistics. People can become sexually aroused by virtually anything XD.
And of course, everything that remains in the field of fantasy is not a bad thing. WHICH includes EVERYTHING, pedophilia stuff like lolicon and dolls is obviously in that list. But of course, people will try to find arguments to deny just the last sentence. That’s how people’s minds work. They first decide to agree on something, and only after that they start to look for logical arguments to defend the idea. But the truth is, most will defend guro because they feel like me about it, a strange curiosity about this material. While the majority will condemn virtual pedophilia stuff simply because they only feel uncomfortable about it.
Guro? That takes me back to the late-90’s. The artist’s name was Tsepesi. It was both the best and worst animation I had ever seen.
Yeah, the double standard is actually infuriating.
Another good example is Game Modding.
One of the most popular mods for the Elder Scrolls V Skyrim is the killable children mod, it was also one of the first Skyrim mods to be made. In the base game, child NPC’s cannot be killed but a lot of Skyrim fans find the child NPC’s to be annoying, and therefore the only sensible response to that is to disable their in-game immortality and murder them. ( As of 2021, there has yet to be any mods that actively improve the behavior of child NPCs, murder is the only solution )
Anyway, even though Skyrim players love murdering children. The numerous Loli and Shota mods produced by AlltheFallen are viewed with near-universal disgust by the Skyrim fanbase. You cannot discuss them on Reddit and you cannot host those mods on any modding sites save for ATF, even Loverslab, the home of all adult Skyrim mods prohibits any mods that sexualize child characters but once again, murdering and even graphically mutilating them is A-Ok,
It’s disturbingly hypocritical.
And of course, people seem more comfortable with boy penises than girl nipples (see Mushoku Tensei).
