Problem solved.
The First Amendment wasn’t seriously considered when Comstock laws passed in 1873. The laws didn’t begin to wane until 1933.
Free Speech protections began pulling away from Comstock censorship laws after the United States v. One Book Called Ulysses (1933) decision overturned a book ban.
