Saw that the cartoon Amphibia was trending on Twitter. Being a huge fan, I looked into it. Cue antis everywhere decrying the Amphibia crew after some of the show’s artists were exposed for making NSFW of some of the characters. Anne, Sasha, and Marcy are all 13yo, so Twitter flips out and starts demanding the artists in question be fired and blacklisted from the animation industry. Also demands for background checks on everyone in the animation industry to see if they have anything “problematic” in their history.
This is hilarious because cartoonists making porn of their own underage characters isn’t new. Eg. I distinctly recall a story from the people who worked on the old Beetlejuice cartoon. Beetlejuice’s nails are painted red in that series, an in-joke to some NSFW concept art of Beetlejuice fingering young Lydia while she’s menstruating. For as long as art has existed, underage lewds have existed. This isn’t some sort of modern degeneracy. Cartoon porn does NOT and has NEVER caused mass outbreaks of sexual assault, child molestation, etc.
The most ironic thing about all this is the fact that the crew members in question held their NSFW art on private accounts that most people would’ve never seen! By exposing them, their art’s been exposed to perhaps hundreds more minors than had everyone just minded their own business…
Seriously, what a disgusting breach of privacy. I seriously regret joining Twitter. It’s giving me an aneurysm.
