China has banned small dolls: Cracking down on factories, police raids

On December 3, 2025, a Chinese state-affiliated outlet, The Paper, published a viral exposé revealing childlike dolls made in various factories. On Weibo (Chinese social media), the story went viral with 300 million views in 48 hours, as riled-up netizens called for action. Some people believe that the recent (and also viral) SHEIN situation in France also fueled the flames. With thousands of netizens calling for bans, including celebrities, the Chinese government and police have since gotten involved.

On December 9, 2025, the “Guangdong Provincial Sexology Association,” a semi-official body that oversees “Sexual Health” issues in China (along with 100+ business representatives and experts from doll factories and e-commerce websites) approved a 20+ page document condemning childlike dolls.

In short, dolls that resemble minors (under 18 years old) are now banned.

well essentially means small dolls are a thing of the past. Name a manufacturer outside China …

There is still Japan which also has their own factories. A UK documentary had an interview with one such man, so I know they exist.

as far as I know Japan has

  1. an export ban

  2. no actual sex dolls (that can be exported) just realistic dolls that have no holes.

Japan has an export ban on a lot of stuff, but it only applies to foreigners. That is why Japan has a very thriving proxy industry. Companies pretend to be you and export the stuff.

According to confiscations from other countries they also cite Japan as the origin.
