Michigan to pay $1.75 million to innocent man after 35 years in prison | AP News He was acquitted by DNA evidence. The victim was never asked to identify him.

35 years?? They owe a hell of a lot more than $1.75M!! His lawyers should’ve demanded $70M+!!

This is crazy! Especially so ce this went down in MY state of Michigan! :sob: I suppose I should be happy he’s getting compensated at all​:man_shrugging:

No amount of money could ever make up for what this man went though. I’d honestly PREFER the death penalty to living in Hell like that.

Not that my comment is an endorsement of capital punishment. In fact, situations like this is EXACTLY why death should be completely off the table as a punishment for committing a crime, even the worst of crimes. Well, it’s one of many reasons why capital punishment is absolute garbage, anyways…

Nah, if it’s enough money to be set up for life, I wouldn’t mind.

Not saying I wouldn’t take the money if it set me up for life either. Just saying that the physical and mental toll of being stuck in prison and accused of something I didn’t do would weight heavily on me. It would take at least an equal amount of time to heal from any potential damage or trauma sustained during my stay.
