Conversation on the topic of pedophilia:

Them: Honestly, it’s just a ton of mental gymnastics to avoid addressing the fact that these people have some level of attraction to underaged teen girls. Even the really young ones.

Me: And people don’t choose what they’re attracted to. That’s not the issue. The issue is when they can’t control/behave themselves and actually seek out sexual activity with these pubescents/adolescents they’re attracted to.

Them: Lol ok. And? What does that have to do with my point of them not addressing it like it is? I don’t care if they can’t control it. It’s fucking disgusting and people choose to dance around it and make it this innocent sexual fantasy that’s simply a bit “taboo” instead of calling them what they are. Pedophiles. That’s what you are if you’re a grown ass adult having sexual fantasies about fucking or dating a 13 year old.

Me: I understand being upset when they act on their attraction and prey on minors, but hating people for emotions/thoughts they can’t control is not rational. It’s like hating a mentally ill person for being mentally ill. It doesn’t make much sense. Arguably ableist, if you consider minor attraction to be a mental disorder. Fantasizing hurts nobody. Acting on it does. To treat ideas and actions as equal is tantamount to policing peoples’ minds (see: thoughtcrime). The vast majority of people who’re attracted to minors never actually act on it. Criticize those few who actually seek to abuse children, not those stuck with an attraction they were born with but still keep in check.

Them: May they burn. I give zero fucks about trashing men who are attracted to minors. They deserve every ounce of hate they get, I WILL criticise them for their thoughts and may society continue to demonise them and make them feel utterly ashamed. Bury them under the jail in the middle of the night if they act on it. If all the kiddie lovers in power feel like actually holding their kind accountable. Hit and miss really. Also fucking lol at considering it ableist to criticise people attracted to kids, people who look at a minor and think about how hot they are and how much they’d love to fuck rape that child but have to show restraint. You make a mockery of actual ableism.

Me: Take it up with actual psychologists who officially recognize pedophilic disorder as a thing :person_shrugging:. It’s a mental disorder, to hate people for it is, by definition, ableist. Are you gonna disagree with actual researchers or what?

Them: Are YOU? You said it’s ableist to consider minor attraction a mental disorder yet you literally just confirmed that it is indeed considered a mental disorder. Ok bud. Keep contradicting yourself. Pedophile defender.

Me: That is literally not what I said. I said that, if minor attraction is considered a mental disorder (which it generally is, at least in regards to pedophilic disorder), then hating people just for having it is ableist.

Them: I literally quoted what you fucking said from your own text, don’t switch up now bro.

Me: Your reading comprehension needs work. I didn’t say: “Calling pedophilia a mental illness is ableist.” I said: “Hating people for having pedophilic disorder is ableist.”

Them: Oh, well. I’d rather need to work on my reading-comprehension than white knight for pedophiles. I’m happy being ableist if it means shaming people who want to fuck kids.

You can’t fucking win with some people. Smh…

Do you enjoy self-flagellation?

I am admittedly a glutton for punishment.

Arguing with idiots is useless.

That’s why I think I am going to stop arguing about pedophilia. You just can’t win with these people, it’s like arguing with a wall.

The same reason I can’t offer any advice to anyone. Once someone’s made up their mind about something and is steadfast about it, there’s no getting through the ignorance of a close-minded person.

Trying to change someone’s beliefs is futile. Until they’re willing to open up their mind and take in other perspectives, at least try seeing another person’s viewpoint, empathize; they’ll never hear it. It falls on deaf ears. This is why many teachers use allegory and metaphor, to put things into the arena of things the close-minded person can understand for themselves that are part of their everyday life. Otherwise, there’s no use in me (or them) wasting energy on it.

And so I just offered advice. Take it for what it’s worth. It either helps you or you can ignore it and remain on your path. Neither outcome affects me in any way.
