Another petition introduced to criminalize loli in Japan

Somewhat related, that drama is crazy and still unfolding. A lot of politicians and lawyers are speaking up about external pressure on japan to censor. But it’s really muddy, it all stems from huffington japan’s big article from Jinge Ribu(feminist sociologist and @rengejibu on twitter) about the art being sexual abuse. Few days after this article came out, suddenly UN women japan speaks up about an issue they rarely if ever would speak about. It turns out Jinge Ribu is an advisor for UN Women japan. UN Women japan isnt really official though, it is an NPO and it seems United women just uses them for donations.

@Chie Between my previous post and this one, I have seen quite a few politicians calling this stuff pedophilic and not falling under free expression. Hell I can point you to some manga artists and authors that support banning it. But the big players that are LDP havent touched anything regarding banning this stuff since Taro Yamada joined the party and shortly Ken Akamatsu(manga artist of love hina) and Yamada got 500k votes during his upper election which is insane and woke the party up to avoid regulating anything regarding the arts. This doesnt mean they dont exist in the party though.

Heres a most recent tweet from an official candidate and member of CDP referring to that tawawa art above not being covered by freedom of expression

I’m very curious about this!

Another politician has joined the petition in OP, CDP Sakura Uchikoshi. Shes fairly high positioned. A lot of these politicians won recently so they arent at risk of losing seats and fun fact, only women have currently signed this petition

Here’s some good news in that vein:

It’s really great that people in Japan care about freedom of expression…

…unlike some countries.

Yoshiyuki Kurishita, candidate for CDP(lost this recent election) ran a purely freedom of expression campaign(He quite literally had campaign posters protesting censoring loli porn and this caused a lot of backlash) has recently introduced a petition to present to his own party to halt the petitions that are popping up more and more now regarding regulating loli art.

Heres him taking notice of a petition from his own party to just straight up ban any art depicting children

@LegalLoliLover1 Akamatsu is awesome,

Though, in the end Kurishita is a lonely individual in his party

Criminalizing works of fiction makes no sense to me and has so many negative implications. If loli = CP, then would killing someone in a video game make you a murderer? What about watching a violent movie where someone commits a ton of crimes, are you a witness?

Making fictional content equivalent to CP (legally speaking) would divert resources to stopping actual CSA to go after individuals for looking at/creating lines on paper. Not to mention, it would make CSA look significantly less severe, since fictional content and actual CSA would both be labeled as CSA.

overdue update here, but the petition just got reintroduced. Note this is the main petition, few others exist so total number of lawmakers asking floating around 12~Again this is from the social democrat parties leader

Ew, SocDems. Just to confirm, these are the left-leaners, correct?

this specific petition comprises the socialist party leader(https://twitter.com/mizuhofukushima), 3 centre-left from CDP and one Komeito

This is annoying. Allowing content that is not tethered to harm is not the same as allowing content that is tethered to harm. Therefore, allowing drawings and dolls is not an endorsement of abuse or even the idea of abuse anymore than undressing to shower is an endorsement of undressing to ride a bus.

One can fantasize being a fire breathing dragon and not believe it is so. Fantasy is not tethered to what one believes.

Punishing for doing no harm is literally punishing for choosing to do no harm.

It’s because idiots think that cranking up the shame aspect will cause “problematic” activities to stop. Me? Nah, I like being the terror that scares the stupid peasants afraid of “monsters”.

I know the feeling. Whenever the UK bitches about loli, I double down and save more of it.

Is this serious or more like a publicity stunt? How likely is it that this will get passed?

more lawmakers are signing onto it, so it’s a growing thing. The thing is this petition has been introduced EVERY SINGLE MONTH since 3 years ago and you might see a new lawmaker signing onto it every 1-2 of those months.

That’s disappointing. I’m hopeful that they’ll change their minds. There’s absolutely zero evidence which justifies banning this art, and ample evidence exists showing that it would only undermine valid efforts to actually protect children from abuse or crack down on actual CSAM.

You gotta have the local citizenry and politicians vehemently opposed to the petition, like Ken Akamatsu, to push against it. I remember a line in Shimoneta: “Where were you when the laws were passing through the diet?” In other words, we can’t just be reactive about it. We have to be proactive in quashing stuff, like this.

He has openly tweeted out against it in the past

It seems this petition is getting a lot more attention, now it’s only showing 3 members of the opposition party…the komei centre-right Sayaka Sasaki name is no longer attached to this petition which is a good thing… but surprising. I wont be surprised if she pops up on it later, these 4 are very like minded

Lots of attention calling for stricter anti-cp laws popping up due to the whole situation regarding Johnny & Associates exploiting children, the ruling party as of current seems to just want to let the current laws deal with it, but it’s getting some big push to step in and do something by opposition parties.

It really seems the UN is the big baddy here, these politicians are just the lackeys

Obviously. See ESG. The UN does the “imperialism” that the Chicoms accuse the US of. Meanwhile, the UN is feckless against said Chicoms. Disband the UN already. What purpose did it ever serve?
