Censorship of 2d characters

The thing is, these ToS also ban:

  • Furry (probably, assuming they classify that as a form of “bestiality”)
  • Tentacle sex
  • Hypnosis (apparently Mastercard classifies this as a form of rape)

Yeah, from my understanding, these ToS changes basically ban anything to do with any type of slightly risqué NSFW content. Even something as ubiquitous as “incest” is banned now. Which is huge even over here in the west. Pixiv seems to be getting hit super hard, if it is an issue with payment processors, they should just do something like accept cryptocurrency or do like Chie mentioned and have a sort of points system. Otherwise, if this sort of thing is what everyone is worried about, they are going to totally kill their paid services. Artists won’t want to be on a restrictive platform and users won’t have artists to support and/or won’t have the option to support the kind of works they deem worthy of support.

I get most of those could be considered “disgusting” or “problematic” in some way, but the one thing that I don’t get is:

What? Why are they on the list?

Watersports = Peeing.

UK pretty much has the same antiquated viewpoint regarding that.

It would’ve been less confusing if they called it “urolagnia” or “urophilia”, since those are the proper terms and it would’ve been more clear it was about urine.

My hope is that all this nonsense will stop the bigger the war against CSAM becomes. Surely, then they will realize that they are wasting too much time on 2D. However, seeing how 50% of the convicted criminals charged with a CSAM related crime are minors themselves. Perhaps I should not be so optimistic.

Another possible period of time would be the creation of the “United States of Europe” where they would harmonize laws.

Anyways, it’s going to get even worse for 2D first and then we will see what really happens.

Yeah, never really understood the point of the name “watersports.”

I personally just call it peeing.

Wow, that’s some bullshit right there. Some of these aren’t even noncon, just unhygienic. The fuck is Mastercard thinking?

What makes you think they are thinking?

Also, note that Vice is left-leaning. Like I said, like native Americans during the American Revolution or Civil Wars, don’t be vested in either side. Like, at all. Better that they destroy each other.

Most people probably dont know who these people in the interview are, but Kazuna Kanajiri(@kazuna_kanajiri) on twitter is a trans activist, director of an anti-porn npo and she is infamous for selling porn to teens when she was really young due to poverty. She got caught, stopped being a sex worker and then went all in on lobbying against porn.

She has her hands in most parties, most recent the main opposition hosted her regarding the latest AV bill passed there. She is close to other heavy feminist orgs like colabo that are big on censorship. It’s pretty clear what the intent of these hit pieces from western orgs are, it’s to get westerners to apply pressure to Japan to bend.

I had a feeling that’s why they seemed familiar.

It’s honestly disgusting what Vice is doing. I’m going to write up a long-form rebuttal to everything in the video and why it’s all so unethical. The fact that they deliberately blacklisted the video in Japan and did not upload a proper version on Vice JP Youtube channel (let alone mention it), it’s no wonder why so much animosity exists between Western consumers of Japanese media and Japanese creators.

The conflation of fantasy and reality is disgusting, the fact that she peddles misinformation about the legality of lolicon/shotacon under US law, and tries to make excuses for the censorship of creative content and the imposition of cultural mores at the expense of people’s rights and perhaps even the safety of real children just… it’s all so much. It makes me so happy that people are skeptical of this video.

I personally didn’t watch the video (Fuck Vice), but I did see a screenshot with the subtitles:

Vice: “Why do we need to wait for proof?”

Simple answer: Because inalienable rights.

Oh, how cute. This @tennosuke in the comments is using the classic “drawings are referenced from real child abuse” excuse. Bonus points for “using it to groom victims”: In Defense of Lolicon and Loli Art - YouTube

There is no reason why a loli artist would jeopardize their career and perhaps even their own freedom by referencing instances or images of real child sex abuse, as that would be considered a form of replication and by extension CSAM under both Japanese and US law and legal precedents. If the source of an image is a recorded instance of real abuse, then it is CSAM. Fans of lolicon/shotacon hentai do not want their interests associated with real abuse, either directly or indirectly, and such accusations have been known to kill an artist’s career in its tracks.
Artists don’t even use legal/lawful images of children as reference because said photos do not function as a good reference images when 3D models and photographs of petite adults are more than good enough to suffice.

As for the ‘groomer’ argument, no. That’s a lame argument right from the get-go.
Just because something may be misused for illicit purposes is not a valid reason to ban it. The same could be said about literally anything else, be it an isolated scene from an adult cartoon or adult pornography. Punish the act, not the content that was misused.

That’s what I said. Then that poster did the classic “I’m a rape victim” sob story excuse and then blocked me. Frankly, I would be more willing to listen to Vietnam war vets’ opinions on Miss Saigon (which again I overheard while dining outside). Also, I referenced my Miss Saigon example, but the poster was so ignorant that he didn’t even know what that was nor was able to do a 2 second Google search about it.

It’s not a good idea to invalidate the claims of victims, if they feel uncomfortable with it then it’s their right to feel that way. What’s not right is them asserting this discomfort against others, especially when other victims use it as a means to cope and reclaim the experience by way of engagement and art therapy.

What about all those faceapp images? I think those are a bit iffy as well. I think they should be removed from Pixiv
