As it turned out, individuals with a history of being physically abused or neglected were more likely to have later been arrested for a sex crime than those who hadn’t faced those experiences in childhood. But there was no statistically significant link between childhood sexual abuse and later becoming a sex offender.
Speaking as one who has spent a significant portion of his early life and thereafter being abused both physically and mentally, I can say that it hasn’t made me want to commit such a crime, but I am very sexually curious, seeing as how it was seen as taboo in my religious household, and I had little formal instruction on the subject.
